I like this version better in color. I agree with Diane, the color is an important part of the scene. A facade used, old. The shadows on the floor and the top of the lamp help achieve a balanced composition.

Interesting to see this along with the BW image. For me, the subtle colors seen here are an integral part of the image. It's like a soft watercolor-wash, and the shadows sort of point toward the door. Nice image.
