Bob,
Love the variety of styles in NYC, from newest skyscrapers to 100 year old buildings, plus the mixtures. One just has to stop and look.
Your photographs of the West are remarkable as well.
Kind regards,
Lilia
There are many older buildings in NYC that have escaped the wrecking ball, which was mainly due to Jacqueline Kennedy's efforts. In the 1960's fashion was to tear down any building older than 20 years. It took someone of her foresight, taste and connections to prevent such atrocities. She became a champion of preservation. This city is forever indebted to all she did for us in her quiet and dignified manner.
Incidentally, don't forget that we had huge waves of immigrants from the 1880's to early 1900's, most of them European. Am sure these were designed and built by immigrants and their descendants.
