Lilia, cement walls seem to be quite good for backgrounds, now you told what it is, it still works out very good and does not change appreciation, it did cross my mind that the background was 'canvas' like, but just thought it was how the lens rendered it (I assume wide open).

Thank you for the praise, but must let you in on a secret. The background is actually a cement wall that is a highway divider. In Manhattan, which is actually a small island, we use every inch of space.
