Hi torralba - indeed the D800e and the Zeiss lenses are a winning combination - regardless of the focal length. I am not an optical engineer but I am pretty sure the 135 APO and the 35 1.4 are actually capable of exceeding the resolution/detail (if these are correct technical terms) of the D800e sensor - when I have enlarged images in CS6 to 1600% the lens is still delivering detail that is beyond what the individual pixels appear to represent - My feeling is this generation of Zeiss lenses will continue to exceed the design and image processing firmware limits of digital sensors for the foreseeable future - I will post some cropped sections of images to try and demonstrate the effect
Holy cow. The detail on this is mind blowing. That D800E plus the 135 is out of this word ! Please post some 100% crops of really interesting sections with lots of detail.
Thanks Anatoly this is Bonneville Dam completed in the late 1930s as part of the "New Deal" to overcome the Great Depression that saw over 30% of Americans out of work. Over 80 years later it is still an important source of electrical energy in the Northwestern US. Also thanks for the reminder to use live-view with this lens - the focus is very very sensitive and the only way to ensure accuracy is to enlarge the intended subject area in live view and set the focus - which of course means using a tripod
I love mountain.
Lens working well.
Thanks.
