It looks like there is some pixelation in the background. Instead of smooth textures, the background appears to have some rather unpleasant artifacts. It could just be the site magnifying the image more than its normal size.\n\n\n
We don't compress or magnify the images you upload here. However, I do see what you are referring to. I am guessing it is a window or door screen of some sort in the background.
thank you donat, much appreciated.
To get this effect, I used Adox CHS100 120 roll film in ATM49, Fotokemika double weight fiber base graded paper, and Moersch paper developer and toner chemistry for the 8 x 10 print. 6x7 format slightly cropped. cliff

Stephen, here is an interesting take on some technical issues, Cliff
"And even with a truely good scanner, the question remains: "What is the optimal scanning resolution?". Many people just blindly choose the highest possible scanning resolution, resulting in huge files, assuming that capturing maximum detail will also mean maximum quality. With analog you are constrained by chemistry. With digital you have more control, I suppose, over the final image. On the other hand, there is a certain look to analog and there are really endless creative possibilities with films, papers, toners, lith, alternative process and etc. I think a mix of analog and digital, however, is very exciting indeed and that is what I am exploring now as well as some traditional BW.
